Because the cylindrical magnets have to mount sideways in the cabinet doors, I spent my morning making square holes for round pegs.

Round peg. Square hole.

I emailed Butch about the failed contract and started a conversation with Bitflow.
I had a ham sandwich and then decided to move the beam next door. I actually got it raised to the ceiling. I hope it’s still there in the morning.
We had nachos and watched the National Championship.

Busy day. I stained all the shelf supports. Epoxied all the round magnets into the square holes. Finished my taxes. Pressed the new beam into place and put posts under the ends. Machined the backs of the small knobs. Watched a movie with Mary, and ate dirty rice.

My knees have been bothering me. Click click. It gets pretty bad after a day on my feet.  So today, I stayed off my feet and organized my office in a post-tax makeover. I didn’t throw much out, but I put a lot of stuff back and I moved a lot of stuff around. I went through a lot of hanging folders.
Then I went shopping. Screws, deposit, stamps, mail taxes, groceries.
Then I machined the fronts of the small knobs, but I still need to ream out the screw holes.
Mary came home and went directly to her nap. We had pizza and the morning show.

Today I finished all the knobs for the cabinets and drawers.
I planed down enough wood for the drawers.
Revisited the carb rebuild tutorial, checked netbenefits, and looked for frame grabbers.
I removed some cabinets and the fan at the green house.
Mary made delicious fish tacos and we watched greys anatomy.

I’ve gotten back into the habit of working at the green house. I’m finishing up removing floors, walls, and ceilings from the kitchen bath utility area. There’s a lot of stuff that’s got to go. Mary actually showed up uninvited today, to check how much stuff I’ve actually got ready to throw out. She had trouble breathing because of all the dust.
I haven’t done shit on c3pr since we got back from florida. No programming, anyway. But I’ve got a new computer ordered, and a lot of browsing about what kind of hardware I need. I decided not to buy grabber/camera/lenses until I’ve got the program working on the new PC. That’ll keep me busy for awhile and give me time to get a better grip on what I need.
I’ve got the carburetor apart and I’ve been dipping the parts. They come out nice and clean if you take the time to scrub and clean them after the dip. It’s a little scary that I’ve got to put it all back together.
I told Jon I’d help him build his bar this weekend.
We had dinner with the Criscolos and talked about what to do with the 40A next door.

I drove 1560# of debris to the dump and paid $117 to get rid of it. Then I drove back home and loaded another load for tomorrow.
I’ve got all the carburetors soaked and cleaned. I think I might water-pik them, but they’re pretty good. I ordered a set of o-rings.
I sanded all the inside sharp edges on the cabinets, which was a big deal I’d been putting off for weeks. And Mary agreed on a plan for the drawer fronts.

When I say "stacked to the ceiling", I'm not kidding.

Another load to the dump. Just 1450# today.
I laid out and rough-cut the front panel for the cabinet drawers.
I fitted 2 pieces of plywood for the GH bathroom floor.
I soaked the last batch of parts of the carburetor. I can’t put it together until the o-rings come.
Mary brought my new computer home from fedEx and I assembled it and decided to actually take time to set up backup and recovery.
Pizza and a bad movie.

I spent the morning on the new computer. I don’t want to partition until I’ve backed up, and the thumb drive I want to use seems to be corrupted. In the end, I didn’t lose a whole lot, and nothing important.
I spent half the day with Jon, helping him build his bar top. It came out pretty good, all things considered. plane join rip trim rout spline glue sand and all he’s got to do is a little more sanding.
We went out for mexican in stowe. It was good.

Made a dovetail jig for drawers.
Trip to town
changed oil in compressor and tested it
Located new GH bathroom wall upstairs
stroganoff
burned DVDs for ubuntu and linuxcnc

I routed the dovetail keys in the drawer fronts. It looks like the guide wasn’t clamped very tight, though, because the fit is terrible.
I spent way too much time installing ubuntu and debian and reading up on why it wasn’t working. In the end, I gave up on debian, and I’m going to just focus on getting the code working, and worry about timing some other time.
I didn’t do anything at the green house at all today.

Sloppy dovetails.

I cut the drawer sides and backs to length.
I did a bunch of ubuntu installs.

yesterday, I went to burlington for various errands. At the Milton town offices, I found out that Harrison had paid about $1k/acre for the Mercaldo parcel. Less than expected.
I set up my jig for finger joints and nearly got linuxcnc configured.
We walked to Juliet’s for a horse training session.
big-ass salad for dinner and watched Dr. McDreamy die on Grey’s anatomy

Up at the crack ass of dawn for a morning session with the horses
I finished configuring linuxcnc and briefly ran it to see if it works. It seems fine. I moved on to opencv and managed to get cmake to build it, gpu flag and all.
I cut all my finger joints and dry-assembled the drawers. No serious errors!
I went next door, where I took measurements, moved piles toward the door, took out nails, and detached some kitchen cabinet units.

I went to my first auction of the season today. “Contractors tools.” Lots of cars, and I parked at the far end of the field. Quite the crowd. Lots of characters. Plenty of good stuff. I signed up, blended in, and browsed. My plan was to buy some scaffolding for the GH, and bidding on the first set went to like $250. I hyperventilated, but didn’t bid. I got a dado set for $35, which is probably pretty high, but just the other day, I was admiring the cracks and dings in mine, so it’s timely. Then I scored a big upright compressor tank. I got the good one cheaper than the other guy paid for the first one. The other scaffold lots went high, so I was out of luck. A huge Mosler safe couldn’t get a bid of $5. A skyfork went for $20k. A 1000# scissor lift with a rotary top went for $350. And lot #307, a rising, tilting, motorized table I had my eye on, couldn’t get a bid at $15, so I took it. It’s got 2 very nice linear actuators, but needs power cords.
Mary was in Burlington till late. She says there’s a call on the Westford land.
I read up on Git. Butch says Buelow returned the form, so I’m up $900 on the day.

My $15 motorized table. I threw it out, but kept the linear actuators.
